Trying to practice some sort of background but this was a little rushed. Lol either way I see the boys having a weekly movie night and Kirishima picks horror a lot. Bakugo is down for it but low key is straight up terrified, still watches it because Kirishima wants to but also he can’t let a movie beat him.
I asked @aristathelia-art for a suggestion to draw and she provided me with the inspiration to draw this picture. Thank you very much! I somehow nearly went all-out on this one, delivering nearly commission quality. Oops xD
Please do not use without permission, nor remove the credits. Thank you!
Kiribaku & Tododeku soulmate au where you have a black spot where your soulmate first touches you. After contact at the first meeting, the mark fills in with color.
Bakugo has a huge black streak across his shoulders, with the faint brush of fingers on his chest.
Kirishima has one half of his dominant arm with a matching streak that runs up to his fingertips, because he tends to get touchy with anyone – including strangers – when he’s tipsy and the blond he just threw his arm around is not in fact who he thought it was.
There’s a black handprint wrapped around Shoto’s left hand, and another cupping his cheek, almost tenderly.
Deku has a handprint on his chest; the back of his right hand is dyed black.
When the green haired paramedic checks on the man in the apartment the fire started in, he underestimated how jumpy he would be – shoved back by one hand. He grabs it on instinct, reaches out to cup the stranger’s cheek, though he’s careful to avoid the fresh-looking wound that marrs the skin around his eye.
They’re both too covered in soot and distracted by the scene to notice the wash of colors, so they don’t… until they’ve been apart for hours – one of them sitting in a too-white hospital room, getting his face wrapped in bandages, and the other in the back of an ambulance on his way to save another life.
Deku’s marks correspond to the hand Todoroki touched him with – the one on his chest is a blazing handprint filled with reds, yellows, oranges, golds. The back of Deku’s hand is equally bright with whites and blues.
The marks on Todoroki are bright and dark – jagged streaks of yellow-gold and bright green flashing through the black parts of the handprint.
Their prints are unique in another way – they move. An ever shifting glacier trawls across the same space on the back of Deku’s hand, and fire flickers on the skin of his chest. Todoroki’s cheek and hand have a constantly-changing thunderstorm dancing across them.
Bakugo’s shoulders and chest ripple in sunlight like crimson metal, and they always feel comfortably warm. When Kirishima places his arm there, the heat increases to dangerously sleep-inducing.
Kirishima’s arm and fingers, similarly, are warmer than the rest of him, and (mostly in the dark), it looks like tiny sparks are flickering across his skin – pinpricks of light that wouldn’t be noticed if he hadn’t spent so much time examining the mark after the night he’d run off after realizing he’d grabbed the wrong blond.
The first time Bakugo goes out with the mark on display, at least ten kids ask if he’s Iron Man.
Kirishima gets asked why his mark is still black, “ifhe’d met his soulmate already.”
Bakugo quietly feels terrible about the lack of color in Kirishima’s mark, but Kirishima insists that its beautiful to him, lights and all.
They discover that Bakugo can actually control the lights to an extent, so on quiet, darker nights, Kirishima can sometimes look down at his arm and see a love note scrawled out messily along his skin.
He looks a little further, and Bakugo is intently focused on the tv; the tips of his ears burning as red as Kirishima’s hair.
(As a bonus; Aizawa’s mark is on his wrist, where someone would place their fingers to check for a pulse. They’re a bright, vivid blue – shocking to say the least on someone who wears the dark, muted colors he does. A certain blonde doctor, with the prettiest blue eyes on the planet, has two fingertips that look like they were dipped in maroon paint. He likes the color, and he says so every time Aizawa looks at it too long; gets that particular wrinkle between his eyebrows that works as a tell for his crumbling esteem. Toshinori kisses the wrinkle away, and when he skates his fingers to match up with the blue dots, there’s no missing the rise in heart rate that precedes the drop – the last anxious spike of self-loathing before Toshinori gently reminds Aizawa that he is, in fact, loved, and they’re both right there. They’re both safe.)
Pretty much just an au I sent to my friends. I formatted it a little better because the original was a little lacking in grammar and punctuation, but I’m kind of working on a (oneshot? Fic?) thing for this au, but I also wanted to post it quickly so I kept it in the bulleted version.
I also have a really sweet college au Kiribaku coming up here in a bit once I polish the bulleted version.
Two more things, and I swear I’ll hush – the Kiribaku gif I found is perfect for what I was imagining for them! And hopefully I conveyed the right image with the Todoroki and Deku gifs, too. I tried!
Final thing – and don’t laugh – I’m actual kind of just starting to watch season two…? I started this sideblog because my wife has been into BNHA for a while and I tried, but I honestly didn’t try that hard, and then I got bitten by the Tododeku/Kiribaku bug and she suggested actually watching the show would help me write them (and the rest of the cast) effectively!
Since I’m tackling a sizable AU of my own creation – Quirkless and the Giant – I figured I should agree with her, so, there we are. I am genuinely in love with all of the characters, though, not just my dweeb sons, and I’m stoked to catch up on it when I have the spare time!
